Start with the opening experience
Book-style and magnetic boxes create an attached opening. Drawer boxes slide. Lid-and-base boxes lift apart. Shoulder-neck boxes create a layered reveal. The opening should support the way the customer interacts with the product.
Check product and insert height
The product, insert and top clearance determine how deep the base must be and whether the lid can close correctly. This is especially important for bottles with tall caps or products that sit above the insert surface.
Consider shipping volume
Standard rigid boxes ship assembled and can consume significant volume. Foldable rigid structures can reduce pre-assembly volume, but their folding geometry and final squareness need careful sampling.
Choose finish after structure
Once the structural direction is correct, select paper, foil, embossing and other surface treatments. Decorative decisions should not hide a weak structure or poor product fit.
